Atta Kwami’s work is rooted in his native Ghanaian heritage and visual culture. The work’s title is the name of a town in the Ewe region of Ghana that specialises in kente cloth production; each area has its own unique kente style. The structure, design and colours in this print are inspired by kente cloth, a textile that is synonymous with Ghana and that has surrounded and influenced Kwami all his life. Relief print on paper, collected as part of the Fashioning Africa project.
